  • Race Day Procedure

Hello Racers, ..I wanted to let you all know what the schedule is going to be for the May 2 Race.

Gates will open at 8:00AM. Any USP racer involved in a heads-up class or True Street will pay a $40 gate fee. Get into your pit are and then proceed to NHRA Tech inspection, located on the west side of the staging lanes. Once you pass track tech, make a u-turn and come see me, or one of my guys on the east side of the staging lanes. Look for the US Performance Banner. We will verify your class intention and get you on the appropriate roster. If you are a heads up racer you will be paying the difference between the $40 gate fee and your class fee. For T/S this will be zero. For PSC, SSC and L/S it will be $10. For U/S it will be $35. For Chaos it will be $85.

    ..Qualifying/Test Schedule:

Bandimere will call the bracket classes to lanes first. Once they have run through we will call all USP classes. Lane assignments will be available at tech and called out over the PA. All the heads up cars will run their first round of Qualifying/Test. After that, all the T/S competitors will run down the track around the return road and out the gate for the cruise portion of True Street. If you are double entered in T/S and a heads-up class, please make your 1st qualifying pass and then immediately return to the staging lanes for the T/S drive.

..Once T/S is on the road, round 2 of bracket class qualifying will commence. T/S will complete the drive portion of the class and come back to lanes 8 and then 7 once 8 fills up. The impound portion of T/S will then start. Once we reach at least 30 minutes cool down, track officials will interrupt bracket qualifying to allow T/S to complete the race portion of the event.

The race portion of T/S is round-robin, no rest. Make your pass, grab your time slip and come immediately down the pro return road IN FRONT OF THE GRAND STANDS. Do not take the return road that runs west of the pits. Failure to follow procedure may result in disqualification. Each car in T/S will make one pass before anyone makes a second. The only wait time you will have is while the rest of the field is running and you are in line. If you need to change nitrous bottles, check tires or anything else, have your crew do it and stay in your car. Do not delay or you may be disqualified. Once T/S is done with the race portion, bracket qualifying will resume.

..Once bracket qualifying is done, all USP heads-up classes will be called to lanes for their second and final qualifying round.

..First round eliminations will begin for bracket classes. Once first round bracket eliminations are done, USP heads-up classes will be called to staging lanes for random laddering. Please stay up near the top of the staging lanes, so when you are laddered, you can roll down with your opponent for first round.

..This is the first time we have done something like this, so please be understanding with the track officials and us. This is a plan and not a set in stone time line. Depending on weather, car counts and mechanical problems we may have to modify this plan. Let's all have a great time racing together and make this the best opening street race day anyone has ever seen!! See you at the races.
